Alpine Shop is an Independent Specialty Outdoor Retailer that provides World Class Service to our customers by outfitting them with equipment, inspiration and education.

To do that, download an application below or pick one up at an Alpine Shop location, fill it out in your own handwriting, then submit it in person to the Store Manager of the location at which you would like to work. Since we are open seven days a week, we suggest you call the store in advance to find out when a Store Manager will be available to accept your application and speak with you in person about becoming an Alpiner. If your application is selected, we will then contact you to start our interview process. We hold three interviews before choosing the right candidates so we can make sure this job is a good fit for both of us. We hope to see you soon!

Benefits Offered:

Employee Discount / Employee Account Charge:

  • Employees may purchase most apparel items (after they have been on the sales floor for two weeks) off of our Shop floor for their own personal use at a discount of 35% off the retail purchase. Most hardgoods items are available at a 20% discount off the retail price. Please note, however, some categories may be priced differently. (This policy may be changed for specific brands, products or seasons depending on availability or popularity of product.)
  • You may charge purchases that you wear in the store (excluding, shoes, fleeces, and sweaters) at 0% interest. These purchases will be deducted from your paycheck at a proportioned amount each pay period at a rate of 25% of the balance.
  • Employees are also eligible for pro-form deals through our vendor companies for significant discounts (many more than 50% off retail) through special orders.

 

Vacation:

  • 1 week during 1st year
  • 2 weeks during and after 2nd year
  • 3 weeks after 5 years
  • 4 weeks after 10 years
  • must work 30 hours per week to be eligible

 

Medical Insurance:

  • must work 30 hours per week to be eligible
  • Alpine Shop pays half/employee pays half
  • spouses and children are eligible, employee is responsible for all of them
  • rates are based on sex and age
  • must work a full calendar month to become eligible. For example:
    • if you start April 1st, coverage would start May 1st
    • if you start April 2nd, coverage would start June 1st
    • if you start April 29th, coverage would start June 1st

Dental Insurance:

  • Offered. Employee responsible for cost

 

Life Insurance:

  • If you get medical insurance, you qualify for $15,000 Life and ADD insurance that Alpine Shop pays 100% of the cost

 

Simple IRA:

  • Must make at least $5,000 in 2 consecutive years. (This is an IRS rule)
  • After the second $5,000 is earned, you may enroll, even if only a partial year has been completed.
  • May deduct at little as $25.00 a paycheck
  • Company will match up to 3% of wages

 

Flexible Spending:

  • (Also known as Sect. 125) This is a fund set up for you for medical or child care expenses. It is taken from your paycheck on a pretax basis and used strictly for those purposes. This is a use it or lose it fund.

 

Accident Insurance:

  • This is available through Colonial Life. They also have Disability and Life Insurance available. Any permanent employee is eligible while working 20+ hours a week.
